Overview
FlowRate is the Dealer Flow Velocity monitor — it classifies the live gamma data into a directional signal (Bullish, Bearish, or Neutral), a magnitude reading, and a flow type descriptor. These three metrics give you an instant read on which direction dealer hedging activity is pushing the underlying and how strongly.
FlowRate derives its signal from the sign and magnitude of net GEX across all strikes, streamed via WebSocket for real-time updates.
Key Features
- 3-metric display: Direction (Bullish / Bearish / Neutral), Magnitude (M — millions of dollars of net dealer flow), and Flow Type (descriptive label classifying the current regime).
- Direction classification: Derived from the sign of net GEX. Positive net GEX = Bullish (dealers buying, price supported). Negative = Bearish (dealers selling, price pressured).
- Real-time WebSocket streaming: All three metrics update with every server tick. Direction can flip intraday as gamma positioning shifts.
- Color-coded direction: Direction text is green when bullish, providing instant visual signal.
- Guide Panel: Four-section overlay — What is FlowRate, Reading the Metrics, Trading Application, and Pro Tips.
- AI-Generated Considerations: ML-powered analytical considerations reflecting the current flow direction and magnitude — delivered for your independent evaluation. Methodology →
Metrics Reference
| Metric | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| Bullish Direction | Net positive GEX — dealers are net long gamma. Their hedging activity supports price (buying dips) and dampens selloffs. |
| Bearish Direction | Net negative GEX — dealers amplify moves. Their hedging sells into weakness and buys into strength. |
| Magnitude (M) | The dollar magnitude of net dealer flow in millions. Larger = stronger directional pressure. |
| Flow Type | Descriptive classification of the current flow regime — e.g., stabilizing (positive gamma, low magnitude), volatile (negative gamma, high magnitude). |
Use Cases
- Directional bias confirmation: Use FlowRate's direction as a filter for your trades. Enter long positions only when Direction is Bullish; short only when Bearish. This aligns you with dealer hedging flow.
- Magnitude-based sizing: Higher magnitude = stronger conviction in the directional signal. Scale position sizes with magnitude — larger flow = more confidence.
- Flow reversal detection: When Direction flips from Bullish to Bearish (or back) during market hours, it signals a real-time gamma positioning shift — one of the most impactful intraday signals.
