Chart Grid

This screen draws a small price chart for each name in a list, all at once. It is one of the chart screens in RingMaster, the product Ohey Inc publishes.

At a glance

• What you see. One small chart per name, about six months of daily bars each, with the 50 and 200 bar averages and the last close.
• Which names. Three choices: the names you starred, the names tonight's published book holds, or every covered name in one sector.
• The order. Alphabetical by ticker, always. No chart is placed first because its price moved more.
• Click a tile. The desk links to that name, and every screen that follows one name switches to it.
• Large lists. A sector with more than sixty covered names shows the first sixty by ticker. The footer says how many there are.
• Key difference. Chart Grid shows many names at a glance. Price Chart shows one name in full.

The three sources

• Watchlist. The names on your active watchlist. Star a name on the Market Scan and it appears here. An empty watchlist shows a sentence saying so.
• Tonight's book. The names the published book holds, both sides together, alphabetical. While the book is delayed for your account, this is the book you are shown.
• One sector. Every covered name in the sector you pick from the list. Covered names are the roughly one thousand names this desk selects each night.

Reading a tile

• The header. The ticker, the company name where we hold one, and the last close on file.
• The bars. Daily bars over about six months. Green closed above its open, red below.
• The two lines. The mean close over the last 50 and 200 trading days, the 50 day average and the 200 day average as most charts call them. They are means of prices and nothing more.
• A tile with a sentence. The desk holds no prices for that name, or the feed has not been published yet.

What the grid is not

It is not a filter. Nothing here ranks the names, scores them or colours a tile to draw the eye. A tile's place in the grid is the alphabet and nothing else.

Frequently asked questions

Why only sixty tiles? Each tile reads five years of prices for its name. Sixty is the most the screen draws at once, and the cut is by ticker so nothing is chosen.

Can I change the range on a tile? No. Open the Price Chart for the full controls. Click a tile and the Price Chart follows it.

Why does a starred name show a sentence instead of bars? Every starred name gets a tile. When the desk holds no prices for that name, the tile says so instead of drawing bars.
